The world's blingest tower ever is nearing external completion in Las Vegas in the USA. It is the first project in the city by the famous property mogul, Donald Trump, who has teamed up in partnership with Phil Ruffin. Designed by Bergman, Walls & Associates, the tower consists of 64 floors and is 189 metres / 697 feet tall. It is effectively a slab block that stands on top of a podium that will be surrounded by palm trees. The top of the tower, as you would expect in Las Vegas glitz and Trump's famed lack of modesty will have his name emblazoned on the top and lit up in lights. What truly makes the tower bling though is the cladding and colouring of the building - the scheme will actually have 24 carat gold in the glazing and will have a gold palette that should fit right in with Las Vegas's gaudy skyline. Although the developer and architect claim this is to help reflect the heat of the desert, knowing Trump's past reputation which is rumoured to have included an attempt to launch an airline with toilets made of gold that stopped the planes from taking off due to the sheer weight, it's likely that the blatant extravagance and excess the Trump name is associated with, also came into the equation. The first tower was such a success that a second tower, near identical has also been launched and sold out although this has yet to start on site. Tower two will have a height of 197 metres / 645 feet but contain a similar number of floors. Together the accomodation schedule adds up to contain a hotel, 1282 condos for the rich and shameless, and a restaurant. It used to be rude to pick your teeth, but vulgar to use a gold tooth pick. Trump is definitely redefining the adage by taking this to the max... after-all what's a gold pick of a few inches when you can have a gold skyscraper many times the size?
